Using linearized Vlasov-Maxwell equations, the skin effect of microwaves and transverse pseudowaves excited by an idealized grid antenna in plasmas are analyzed. It is shown that the latter is predominant over the former, in such a plasma that ω_pυ_t/ωc≩1,where ω_p and ω are the plasma and microwave angular frequencies, υ_t and c are the electron thermal and light velocities, respectively.
