Azbel Kaner Resonance in Gaseous Plasmas

The cyclotron resonance of ordinary electromagnetic fields in dense gaseous plasmas is analyzed. The phenomenon is similar to Azbel Kaner resonance in cryogenic metals. The collisionless absorption of electromagnetic field by electrons and the propagation of slow electromagnetic waves in a dense plasma are investigated in some detail. Numerical calculations of refractive indices of ordinary waves are shown for a wide range of plasma parameters.
