Two probelms on tokamak equilibrium are considered. One problem concerns with the maintenance of the toroidal equilibrium by means of the field due to external currents. The other problem concerns with the toroidal equilibrium of a high pressure tokamak plasma with β_θ (poloidal beta) >> 1. We adopt an expansion in fractional power of the inverse aspect ratio ε. We take the ordering β_θ∿ε^<K-1> where 0<K<1,and show that the equilibrium can be solved consistently to any order inεby appropriately choosing the coordinates. We specifically treat the case k=1/3 (β_θ∿ε^<-2/3>) and make the calculation up to the orderε^<3K> (ε), thereby including the contributions from ellipticity and triangularity of the magnetic surfaces. The shape of the conducting shell is weakly deformed from a circle to study the effects of non-circularity of the shell.
