The crystals of [NiII(dmit)2]−(dmit=1,3-dithiole-2-thione-4,5-dithiolate) salts with three kinds of counter di-cations (1,1-Cn-di-3-X-pyridinium (CndX) ; Cn alkylene chain length ; n=4, 6, 8, 10 and X functional groups ; COOCH3, COCH3, COC6H5), were prepared. The effects of both weak hydrogen bond and alkylene chain length have been investigated by X-ray crystallographic analysis. dX cations formed one-dimensional structure linked by C-H…O hydrogen bonds. The type of linkage depended on the alkylene chain length. Cations with short (n=4) and long (n=10) chains were linked by C-H…O hydrogen bond with dimer type. For those of medium (n=6, 8), however, the cations adopted linear type.
