This paper is about designing and implementing the multifunctional UHF RFID reader platform, which receives and processes the RFID data from tags and transmits the data to the PC server via Bluetooth, USB, RS-232 or Ethernet. This reader system is composed of the RFID module, ARM processor, RS-232 interface, USB, Ethernet MAC interface, Bluetooth, etc. This paper also provides a brief overview and a concept of the RFID reader and proposes designing and implementing the RFID reader platform. This paper evaluates and analyzes two practical implementations-the fixed and the portable type RFID reader.
