This paper proposes a new concept of gesture interface in home computing environment, called "Unified Interaction Gesture Interface (UIGI)". There are many kinds of suitable gesture interaction for manipulating diverse appliances and applications in home computing environment. Learning many kinds of gesture interaction imposes a large burden on users. UIGI reduces this learning cost by enabling users to manipulate diverse applications through the following four primitive gestures: pointing, pinching and letting go, tapping, and turning. The key feature of UIGI is a simple syntax of manipulating applications by the primitive gestures. We implemented a gesture recognizing system, that analyzes the action of visual marker by a camera and inputs from a tact switch. With this, we evaluated UIGI, and confirm the possibility of practical use.
