This paper presents the performance analysis results of the MC-CDMA employed frequency interleaving (FI) technique used to enhance the frequency diversity gain under a multipath fading channel. A computer simulation was conducted to evaluate the required average E_b/N_0 performance of MC-CDMA with/without FI by changing the size of the spreading code and the number of multiplexing users. The simulation results show that the MC-CDMA with FI shows a better required average E_b/N_0 performance than OFDM and MC-CDMA without FI when the modulation scheme is QPSK and a high rate turbo coding is applicable. Further, additional improvements are obtainable when the number of multiplexing users is less than half the size of the spreading factor. This paper clarifies the advantages of MC-CDMA with FI rather than without and conventional OFDM for the downlink in the wireless access system.
