Measurement of Thermophysical Properties of Ferroelectric Ba(Ti1-x, Zrx)O3 Ceramics by Thermal Radiation Calorimetry

The thermophysical properties of ferroelectric Ba(Ti1-x, Zrx)O3 ceramics were obtained in the temperature range from 310 to 440 K. A radiation calorimeter was used to obtain specific heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and thermal diffusivity simultaneously and independently. A self-check of the data reliability was performed for the obtained results. The anomalies associated with the ferroelectric phase transition were observed for specific heat capacity and thermal diffusivity. The temperature dependence of these properties becomes more diffusive with an increase in Zr content similar to the results of Ba(Ti1-x, Snx)O3 ceramics with Sn content. However, the Zr content did not cause a large change in thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity unlike the Sn content in the present temperature range. The Curie temperatures obtained from the present experiment changed with Zr content, which are quite consistent with the results obtained from a dielectric measurement by previous authors.
