• This study aims to evaluate the insurance service for care and assistance for elderly persons who reside in their own homes. Questionnaires were sent to 127 elderly persons residing in the home. Most of the elderly utilized the service and were satisfied with it. But families of elderly persons with severe diseases who needed physical and mental care were not as satisfied with the service. They did not feel a reduction of either the mental or the physical burden of care. From these results it can be seen that a special program needs to be established for families of elderly persons with severe diseases who need physical and mental care.
