Ammonium paratungstate forms its double salt in existence of an ammoniacal soln. of the nickel salt. W-Ni compound powders obtained by calcining and reduction of this double salt are very fine and their shapes are intricate. Compound powders accordingly have superior properties as a raw material for "Heavy Alloys". The physical or the mechanical properties of the "Heavy Alloy" composed of 90% W, 1% Ni and 9% Cu are excellent, if the compound powders are used for a raw material. Density of an above-mentioned alloy which is sintered at 1, 240°C for only lhr. attains to 17.19g/c.c. Besides, the specific resistance is about 8μΩ⋅cm and the ultimate breaking strength shows 168kg/mm2.
