This paper examines the complex curriculum design process used in a communicative English language program for engineering and science majors at a Japanese university. All of the major factors that go into the design, review, evaluation and improvement process in the curriculum are presented and examined. The design efficiency of this model educational system is highlighted against the background of theoretically sound communicative classroom teaching methodology and practice.
