A hybrid-pumped gain-switched Tm3+ fiber laser with an all-fiber configuration is demonstrated to achieve over 10 W 2 μm pulsed laser beams. This laser system is complementarily pumped by a 790 nm diode laser and a 1 μm pulsed Yb3+ fiber laser. Based on the triggering effect of a 1 μm pulse pump, most of the stored energy is efficiently transformed into the 2 μm laser pulse. The laser wavelength is centered at 2018.3 nm with a spectral bandwidth of 0.08 nm. The maximum pulse energy is 2 mJ with a pulse width of 500 ns, corresponding to a peak power of 4 kW.
