• A new spectral problem is constructed and a type of skillful expansion for the elements of V in the stationary zero curvature equation is given. Then, a new type of coupled short pulse hierarchy (CSPH), which can be reduced to the short pulse hierarchy (SPH), is obtained. Furthermore, the Hamiltonian structure of the CSPH is constructed.
