The stability limit for a spontaneous gas oscillation occurring in a tube with a uniform radius was studied. One end of the tube was heated and closed, whereas the other end was cooled and open. The ratio of temperatures at the closed and open tube-ends at the stability limit was numerically calculated. The shape of the temperature distribution along the tube was found to affect the temperature ratio. The reason for this result was addressed by considering which part of the tube generates the energy needed for sustaining the oscillation.
