Direct simulation of fully-developed turbulent flow bounded by perfectly permeable walls is performed to identify the effect of wall permeability on wall-bounded turbulent flows. The most obvious effect is to increase the wall drag and to enhance the turbulence level which prevents the flow from returning to the laminar state even at a very low Reynolds number. Most of the significant events characterizing the flow including intense energy dissipation occur in the immediate vicinity of the wall where the presence of alternate regions of suction and blowing and the related circulation cells is revealed in the instantaneous snapshots.
