Extensive Brownian dynamics simulations are performed on dilute polydisperse magnetic colloidal chains confined in thin films and on a monolayer of polydisperse magnetic colloids. Simulation results show that the magnetic field dependences of the mean-square displacements and the radial distribution functions of the chains are qualitatively similar to those of the monolayer colloids, even if the field dependence of the hexatic bond-orientational order function of the nearest chains is different from that of the monolayer colloids. It is also found that these long-time self-diffusion coefficients collapse on a single master curve recently proposed by Tokuyama.
