In a point nucleus model, we show that the unscreened electric dipole moment (EDM) of an ionic atom exists in the leading order. We evaluate the exact energy linear in EDM of an ionic atom. The EDM energy of nucleus survives in the ionic atom, while that of the electrons are screened completely.
