A synthetic aperture technique is now available owing to marked developments in computer performance. Many motion compensation techniques are now proposed. In this paper, an easy motion compensation method using acceleration sensors is proposed. Recorded motions are modified by filtering acceleration information into special positions. We carried out a sea trial with a synthetic aperture sonar in the gulf of Katagami in November 2005. The motion compensation method was applied to the sea trial, and the outcome was remarkable.
