• Shear-horizontal (SH) surface acoustic waves (SAWs), such as the Love wave and the Bleustein–Gulyaev–Shimizu (BGS) wave, are now being widely used in resonators and filters for various electronic and communication systems throughout the world. In particular, SH-SAW devices on rotated $Y$-cut LiTaO3 are extensively used as RF filters and duplexers in mobile phones. In this review paper, the history and the state-of-the-art technology in SH-SAW devices are described.
