A stable levitation of three types of plant seed was demonstrated on top of a permanent magnet using the magneto-Archimedes effect. Levitation height differed among the seeds. In addition, the levitation of the same seeds was observed on gradually increasing magnetic fields, provided by a superconducting magnet, from 0 to 1.5 T. The seed that levitated the highest from the permanent magnet was the first to float at a lower magnetic field. The merits and possibility of using a permanent magnet for magnetic levitation and separation were discussed.
