In this paper, the investigation of a voltage transient response and its characteristics for a piezoelectric vibrator driven by an external impulse force is reported. An equivalent circuit with an impulse force is used to first derive a theoretical transient response and its characteristics. Then, a driving and measuring system is constructed to determine the transient responses and their characteristics at various impulse forces. Moreover, relationships between the transient response and the impulse force are measured and discussed.
