We studied transmittance in fringe-field switching mode using positive liquid crystal with added chiral dopant. When a chiral dopant (the pitch orientation of whose is in the same direction as the dielectric torque N) is added, the transmittances at the center and near the edge of the structure increase owing to the increase in each average twist angle toward the optimal twist angle.
