The purpose of this work is to investigate the possibility of using calculable ac/dc resistors as a standard of phase angle $\theta$ ($=\omega\tau$) within an accuracy of a few ppm level at $\omega=10^{4}$ rad/s. For this purpose, the time constant $\tau$ of the bifilar type calculable ac/dc resistor has been analyzed in detail. The results of calculations show that the geometrical and electrical conditions under which the time constant of the bifilar type resistor becomes zero ($\tau=0$) can be obtained within the proper dimension. In this paper, the optimum parameters of the geometrical and electrical conditions which enable the use of calculable ac/dc resistors as a phase angle standard are presented.
