Infrared (IR) transmittance spectra were measured for La0.67SrxMnO3-δ (x=0.33 and 0.23) samples in the temperature range 300–400 K. Large frequency shifts of the stretching mode of MnO6 octahedra were observed around the Curie temperature Tc. IR spectra showed that the local Jahn-Teller (JT) distortions persist in trigonal La0.67SrxMnO3-δ and are partially removed below Tc. An extra absorption peak was detected for La0.67Sr0.23MnO3-δ due to the reduced symmetry of local MnO6 octahedra.
