More than 30 peri-aryloxy-p-quinone derivatives have been synthesized for possible application in 3D optical memory devices. Extinction coefficients, fluorescence, photochromism and photo-decomposition quantum yields of 15 naphthacenequinone derivatives for both isomeric forms have been measured.
