Epitaxial strontium ruthenate SrRuO3, Sr3Ru2O7, and Sr2RuO4 thin films were grown on (001) SrTiO3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The composition of the film was found to be widely controllable by changing the ablation conditions, oxygen pressure, and growth temperature, and thus, SrRuO3, Sr3Ru2O7, and Sr2RuO4 thin films could be individually obtained from a stoichiometric SrRuO3 target.
