Synthesis and Electrochemical Properties of LiMn2O4 Powders by Spray Pyrolysis Using Carbonate Aqueous Solution

LiMn2O4 and Li1.09Mn2O4 powders were prepared by spray pyrolysis with aqueous solution of manganese carbonate. The dispersion stability of manganese carbonate was influenced by pH of aqueous solution. The particle characteristics of LiMn2O4 and Li1.09Mn2O4 powders were determined by XRD, SEM and BET. SEM photograph showed that LiMn2O4 powders had spherical morphology with porous microstructure and consisted of primary particles. XRD revealed that crystal phase of LiMn2O4 and Li1.09Mn2O4 powders were good agreement with spinel phase. The dischargeable capacity of LiMn2O4 cathode was 125 mAh/g at 1C. The dischargeable capacity of Li1.09Mn2O4 cathode was 107 mAh/g at 1C. The dischargeable capacity of Li1.09Mn2O4 cathode exhibited high cycle stability compared with that of was LiMn2O4 cathode.
