Fossil fuels which meet most of our energy requirements may be depleted in the near future and the development of alternative energy sources is inevitably considered in worldwide. The energy of solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, wave and biomass are known as the renewable energy sources. Among these sources, some biomasses such as woody waste and animal manure are considered as important resources because it can be found everywhere. In Korea, the replenish objective of renewable energy will be established by 4.3% of total energy usage in 2015. In the case of achievement of the objective, the amount of renewable energy will be expected to increase 6.4 times until 2015. In Korea, the portion of waste-to-energy in renewable energy is 76% now. One method among waste-to-energy for waste resources is carbonization which can obtain renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas effectively.In this study, mixtures of woody waste and swine manure were converted to renewable energy source by carbonization processes. The possibility of renewable energy of carbonization residue is estimated by estimating energy characteristics such as fuel ratio, heating value, yield and combustibility index with the content of swine manure.
