Determination was made of the activity of fibrinolysin (plasmin) in cases of pulmonaly tuberculosis. As a result it was found that the activity in them was markedly increased especially in those with hemoptysis and/or bloody sputum over that in normal cases. ε-Aminocaproic acid, an anti plasmin preparation, orally or intravenously administered resulted in a delay of the once accelerated lvsis of the fibrin in cases with hemoptysis and/or bloody sputum, leading to improvement of laboratory findings for hemorrhagic diathesis as well as of symptomatic manifestations.<BR>It is accepted that development of tuberculosis is closely related with allergy which is accelerated by an activated plasmin while plasmin itself is activated by antigenantibody reaction. Being based upon this acceptance, the present study was made of aggravated tuberculos cases treated with chmotherapy in reference allergic cases treated with ε-Aminocaproic acid. The activity of plasmin which had been accelerated in the aggravated cases before administration was decreased with the favorable therapeutic effects represented by improved chest X-ray and other clinical findings.
