Experiments were carried out to study the flow of water in the gating system from a pouring equipment with a quick up-down mechanism of the tilt-center. For the purpose of maintaining the molten metal at the constant level in the pouring basin, the diminishing pattern was found to be preferable as the flow rate change at the intermediate region of pouring. The flow pattern which the flow rate at the end of pouring diminishes to about 0.7 times of that at the start of pouring was suitable under the conditions of this study.
