A simple procedure for diffusion-bonding high chromium cast iron and cast steel in air was tested. The bonding conditions were as follows : The bonding temperature ranged from 1173K to 1273K. The bonding times were 3.6ks and 10.8ks. The bonding pressure were 9.8MPa and 19.6MPa. It was concluded that the optimum conditions were at the temperatures from 1223K to 1273K and bonding time of 10.8ks and bonding pressure of 9.8MPa. When the bonded materials was tested using an impact wear tester, the wear ratio was equal to the raw material and it did not separate in the bonded area. The simulation of a bonding mechanism at the surface was determined by measuring the differential thermal expansion.
