脳梗塞に対する電気刺激療法

脳梗塞患者に対する電気刺激療法によって運動機能改善が得られるケースがあることは報告されてきたが，作用機序についてはほとんど解明されていなかった．われわれは急性期・慢性期脳梗塞モデル動物を用いて電気刺激療法の治療効果ならびに作用機序について検討した．急性期実験では，脳梗塞体積の減少と行動学的改善が得られ，特に抗アポトーシス効果や血管新生・グリア増生抑制効果が関与していることが明らかになった．慢性期実験では，同様の治療効果が得られたが，特に新生神経の遊走が電気刺激により著しく増強されることが明らかになった．さらなる研究が必要であるが，電気刺激療法は脳梗塞も含めた様々な中枢神経疾患に対して治療効果を有する可能性があり，期待がもたれる．
