A red shift of the optical band-gap of EuSe as large as 50 meV was observed with increasing magnetic fields up to 30 T for a high purity single crystal at T=77K. This sample showed a very small absorption coefficient of 10 cm-1 for photon energies below the band-gap. The effect of the Faraday rotation increased in the magnetization range up to 2μB (B=15T, T=77K), and it decreased due to the strong magneto-dichroism in B›15T in the paramagnetic temperature range.
