The anatomical relationship between superior cervical ganglion (SCG) and adrenergic nerve fibers in the inner ear has been well established. However, there are no available data which studied such relationship by means of tracer injection method. In this study, horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was injected into the scala tympani of guinea pig cochleas and superior cervical ganglia were examined by light microscopy. Seventy two hours after the injection, sporadic distribution of HRP-positive ganglion cells were found in the ipsilateral SCG but not in contralateral SCG, thereby confirming the fiber connection between SCG and ipsilateral cochlea.
