耳性脳膿瘍の1例

A case of brain abscess in the left temporal lobe caused by left chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma was reported. A 43-year-old man had the typical local, general and focal symptoms. Because the radical mastoidectomy and drug therapy were not effective, neurosurgical drainage by puncture was done successfully. Staphylococcus epidermis was found from his otorrhea, but was not cultured from the abscess. CT scan was very useful for making the diagnosis, selecting method of treatment, and monitoring the progress.
