Fibrin glue, which consists of highly concentrated human fibrinogen and thrombin, was used for the purpose of hemostasis in 7 sinectomies. These were five chronic inflammations of the paranasal sinuses and two postoperative maxillary cysts. Fibrin glue was injected with a syringe into the nasal cavity and the paranasal sinuses within a minute after the posterior naris was packed completely with a ballon catheter. The effect of hemostasis was dramatic, and postoperative bleeding and swelling of the cheek were not observed, even when tampones were not used.
