Twenty six cases of low-tone sensorineural deafness of sudden onset were reported. The patients complained of tinnitus, ear fullness and vertigo in 18, two and five cases, respectively. The audiograms showed slight to moderate sensorineural hearing loss in the low tones and positive recruitment. Hearing was recovered in 95% of the cases treated with corticosteroids, vasodilators and vitamins such as thiamine and cobalamin.<BR>These cases were considered to be a similar entity to endolymphatic hydrops without vertigo as proposed by Williams et al.(1950).
