A simplest yet effective method for radioactive waste treatment has been developed by using dinonylnaphthalene sulphonic acid as liquid cation exchanger. The removal efficiency of radioactive elements can increase to 99 % by using a single column in which only pieces of crushed porcelain or porous plates are placed and bubbled with compressed air. The batch method with air stirring or mechanical stirring is also highly effective. The preadjustment of the acid concentration plays an important role in using this method; the optimum concentration was found to be less than 0.001N and not lower than 0.0001N.
