<I>An improved ratio circuit for the position sensitive detector uses has been fabricated by applying the pulse sampling technique. The ratio magnitude of the input X and E signals has been converted to a square pulse of width τ (∝X/E), which is changed to the pulse amplitude to be analysed. The final E and X/E pulses of 2μs duration are simultaneously put out. The present X/E range is from 0.1 to 1.0 and its linearity is about 1%. The illustrative characteristics using 210Po-α, 241Am-α particles and accelerated protons are presented.</I>
