To study the effect of glucose addition on the silage fermentation, guineagrass was ensiled into laboratory bag silos with or without 1% glucose based on fresh material weight. The degrees of degradation in hemicellulose were not different between two silages. Acetic acid content in silage had not decreased by glucose addition. Regarding to pH value, butyric acid content and VBN content, there were no difference between two silages. Lactic acid content with addition of glucose was increased at the beginning of silage fermentation, after that it was decreased. The results of this study indicated that there is little effect of the glucose addition on the silage fermentation of guineagrass.
