In JIS B 8284, Quick Closure Device for Pressure Vessels, quick closure devices are grouped to several types depending on their configurative construction, out of which the integral type, devided clamp type and integral with ratch type were already explained for strength calculation, respectively, in Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 of this series of articles.The present article (Part 4) is published to give guidance on the basis idea for the strength calculation of closures of the sectional ring type.Sectional ring type has been used since long ago and one of the types specified by JIS B 8275, Cover Plate for Pressure Vessels. Sectional ring type is used mainly for vessels used under higher pressures but smaller in vessel size.However, no standardized procedures for strength calculation of this type had been available, so far.This article will be useful for design calculation of quick closure devices of the sectional ring type, and other equipment of similar construction.
