1) The action of 36 (β-chloroethyl) amine derivatives on various animal viruses was studied.2) Benzyl-bis-(β-chloroethyl) amine and its N-oxide are most effective in inactivating fixed rabies virus and vaccinia virus. Tris-(β-chloroethyl) amine is also effective against influenza virus.3) The mechanism of the antiviral activity of these compounds appears to be prophylactic.
