Tensile tests were carried out on butt-welded and T-shaped fillet welded joints for the work-hardened sheet 6.4mm in thickness. The tensile strength and 0.2% proof stress for the as-welded joint in the work-hardened alloy are considerably higher than those in 5083-0 alloy. An application of the work-hardened alloy for welding structures results in the design stress significantly higher and also to weight saving. Attention must be payed to the elongation lower than that of the butt-welded joint in 5083-0 sheet.
