The SiC whisker/aluminum alloy (ADC12) composites were fabricated by die casting following compocasting. Tensile properties, hardness, elastic modulus and wear properties were investigated. 0.2% proof stress and elastic modulus of ADC12-X-5Vf%SiCw composites are superior to those of ADC12 alloy and ADC12-5Vf%SiCw composites. The composites with matrix of 0.9mass%Mg added alloy show the highest strength. Wear loss of composites containing 5Vf% SiC whisker is approximately 50% smaller compared with ADC12 aluminum alloy.
