According to previous reports, anodic films of Aluminum have been believed to be porous.To ascertain this, we observed them directly by electron microscopy, and concluded as follows.In general, the films have porous and network-like structures, and they are influenced by the condition of anodic oxidation, that is, the composition and the temperature of the electrolyte and the current density.The linear dimensions of the pores in the typical network-like structures are from 0.03 to 0.18 microns.
