The effect of snow fall and wind speed was investigated at the proposed Mizusawa VERA (VLBI for Earth Rotation and Astrometry) station near Mt. Abara. Mt. Abara is not far from the Mizusawa Astrogeodynamics Observatory and many geophysical observations such as strain, tilt and gravity, which are useful for interpretation of the VLBI result, are made around there. It is possible to select several suitable sites in the mountains of as small amount of snow accumulation and low wind speed as Mizusawa in the plain. The proposed site is located among a granite bed rock, and meets the conditions of radio noise, geology, seismic disturbance, snow accumulation and wind speed. The effects of snow and wind on VLBI observations are found to be insignificant at the proposed site.
