Five hundreds and eighty nine female pigs (528.9 days of age) which were born from 154 sows were ultrasonically scanned for genetic improvement of meat production performance. The effects of sows affected to all carcass traits except intermusclar fat thickness (IMFT) . Subcutaneous fat thickness (SFT) was significantly (P<0.05) influenced by the scanning months. No significantly effects of litter size was showed in all carcass traits. The quadratic regression effects of age were showed in only IMFT. The heritabilities were 0.45, 0.50, 0.43, 0.42, and 0.22 for rib-eye area (REA), SFT, first layer of SFT (SFT 1), second layer of SFT (SFT 2) and IMFT, respectively. Genetic correlation coefficients between REA and SFT, SFT-1 and SFT2 were 0.03 0.30. The thickness of fat was not affected strongly by the selection for REA.
