Development of High-Speed EMI Simulator for Electromagnetic Noise Emission from a Digital PCB.

Concerned is a spectral profile of electromagnetic (EM) noise emission from a signal line on a high-speed digital printed circuit board (PCB) . It is the purpose of this paper to develop high-speed electromagnetic interference (EMI) simulator. Authors propose a high-speed predictive method of EMI spectrum based on switching characteristics of logic IC and resonance characteristics of a digital circuit. In this paper, measurements and predictions of EMI spectra emitted from a signal line on a 4 layers PCB are carried out. Predicted peak heights and peak frequencies agreed well with measured one.
