The new porcelain enameled PWB (printed wiring board) which consists of the devitrified porcelain enameled substrate and metal copper conductor was developed;<BR>1) The devitrifiable enamel, which is devitrified immediately after the fusion at 800-900°C, was developed. This enamel has the excellent edge coverage property and suppresses the growth of voids.<BR>2) The electroless copper plating process which made use of the characteristics of the devitrified porcelain enamel was developed. The adhesion strength of the plated copper to the board was more than 1.5kgf/mm2 (pull strength) .<BR>The conductor formation on the through hole wall with the conventional (plating or etching) PWB procedure became applicable. This process is suitable for high density wiring.
