In two patients who had undergone laser cordectomy for glottic carcinoma, phonatory function was examined. In psychoacoustic evaluatin, the two patients presented a very slight degree of hoarseness. Aerodynamic tests revealed normal values. Ultra high speed photography demonstrated that the vibration of the operated vocal fold was very small, presenting no wave on the mucosa. The cycle-to-cycle variations in the glottal area waveform were greater than normal. In general, the phonatory function appeared to be slightly inferior to cases treated by radiation therapy.
